Formed in 2009, the Ilford Business Improvement District’s key aims are to promote businesses within the BID boundary, increase footfall and to make Ilford the destination of choice.
Ekota Academy in Redbridge enriches the local community by promoting health, sports, and social cohesion through activities such as cricket, football, martial arts, and dance. Based at Goodmayes Park, they also run the Emerald Café, a hub for recreation and engagement. Their initiatives focus on reducing health inequalities, fostering youth development, and enhancing mental and physical wellbeing. Ekota hosts holiday camps, grassroots sports events, and tailored community projects and are currently expanding their network to every primary and secondary school in the borough. Recognised with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, they are celebrated for their efforts to create an inclusive, healthier community.
