Join us as we celebrate the grand finale of our Lantern Making workshops with a spectacular Lantern Display at Ken Aston Square! Watch as the lanterns, beautifully decorated with Warli-inspired art, light up the night in a vibrant parade around Fullwell Cross Library. The event will feature two 45-minute performances, showcasing choreographed lantern displays accompanied by drummers playing cultural music that reflects the rich stories of the Redbridge community. Don’t miss this magical evening of culture, creativity, and community spirit! 

Who is this for?

This activity is suitable for anyone and is family friendly. Anyone can turn up and watch the Lantern Display. 

What is the format of the event? 

The event will start in Ken Aston Square, parading in a circle around Fullwell Cross Library. There will be two 45-minute performances, showcasing choreographed lantern displays accompanied by drummers playing cultural music reflecting the diverse culture in the Redbridge community. Starting at 4:30pm and 6pm.

What will I get out of it? 

This is a family-friendly, fun event to see beautifully decorated lanterns light up the sky in Redbridge and a enjoy culture-filled musical drumming performance. It will also be an opportunity to learn about different cultures and meet new people. 

How to book? 

Booking is not necessary; you can just turn up on the day. How do I get there? 

Fullwell Cross Library is close to Fairlop underground station (Central Line) and serviced by many different bus routes in Redbridge. Plan your journey at tfl.gov.uk. There is also the close-by paid Barkingside Car Park.

Access 

All our activities are step-free with facilities such as accessible toilets. Most activities can be easily adapted for people with varying disabilities or neurodiversity. Please email us at access@colours.red to discuss your requirements

About the Artist 

Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) is one of Britain’s pioneering outdoor arts companies, creating magical experiences in the places where you live, learn, work and play. They use traditional and contemporary techniques for making large and small scale lanterns using natural biodegradable willow and paper or found objects and recyclable materials. Their team of professional artists delivers inclusive, inspirational workshops and masterclasses with schools and community groups.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the advertised start time as any empty spaces will be reallocated on the day.
